What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a fully functioning tooth replacement designed to look and feel like natural teeth. They are made of a titanium post, an abutment, and a crown. Your oral surgeon will insert the post into the jaw bone, creating a solid foundation for your new tooth, and your restorative dentist will create and place the final crown. The implant fuses with the jaw bone and stays in place at all times, allowing you to eat and speak comfortably.

Whether you are missing a single tooth or need to restore all of your teeth, dental implants may be the right solution for you. There are many implant options available, and we will work with you to determine the right choice for your oral health, budget, and smile goals.

The Dental Implant Procedure

Using 3D scanning technology, your surgeon will create a detailed surgical guide for your implant procedure and walk you through all of the steps beforehand. We offer many anesthesia options to choose from to ensure your comfort and will help you select the right choice during the consultation.

During dental implant surgery, your surgeon will make a small incision in the gum tissue and insert the implant post. The incision is closed with sutures and you will be sent home with post-operative instructions that outline how to care for your implant during the recovery process. While you recover, your restorative dentist will create the final crown. It will take several weeks for the implant to fuse with the jaw bone and once you have healed, your dentist will attach the final crown, completing your implant treatment.

Types of Anesthesia

There are many types of anesthesia and sedation options available to you.
