About Dr. Brown
Dr. Brown was inspired to go into oral and maxillofacial surgery because it is an ideal blend of dentistry and medicine. Dr. Brown finds the field extremely rewarding and loves being able to improve the quality of life for her patients. She likes to explain treatment in a digestible and concise manner so patients better understand their diagnosis, treatment plan, and procedure.
In December 2020, Dr. Brown joined Akeso Oral, Facial & Dental Implant Surgery. She aims to help every patient feel comfortable, informed, and welcome at our practice and looks forward to treating you and your loved ones with the highest standard of care.
Hobbies & Interests
Outside of work, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time with her family and friends. As a North Carolina native, she is an avid UNC Tarheels basketball fan. She has a deep appreciation for music of all types and especially enjoys live music. A self-proclaimed foodie, Dr. Brown loves trying new foods.
Education & Residency
Dr. Brown completed her undergraduate studies at Spelman College before attending dental school at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned her DDS degree. She went on to complete a residency in General Practice at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center before completing an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Augusta University Dental College of Georgia. Dr. Brown also holds a TMJ Fellowship Certificate from the Oral Facial Surgery Institute in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Brown is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). She is also a member of several organizations, including American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS), American Dental Association (ADA), National Dental Association (NDA), and National Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (NSOMS).
Dr. Brown is also certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
