Kiara Brown
DDS
Dr. Kiara Brown fell in love with the amalgamation of dentistry and medicine after discovering oral and maxillofacial surgery in dental school. She takes a particular interest in the dynamic world of oral surgery and a range of procedures that offer life-changing interventions to every patient she sees.
Originally from Graham, North Carolina, Dr. Brown wanted to return to the East Coast and find a practice offering clinical autonomy, growth, and support. She joined Akeso Oral, Facial & Dental Implant Surgery because of the culture that offered her exactly what she wanted. Knowing that major surgery can be anxiety-inducing, Dr. Brown explains every procedure in a concise and digestible manner so every patient can understand and feel more at ease.
For Dr. Brown, the most rewarding aspect of her job is seeing the impact oral surgery has on her patients, restoring their oral health and function while offering a friendly hand to hold throughout the process.
Dr. Brown received a bachelor’s in biology from Spelman College in 2011, followed by her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2015. She completed her oral and maxillofacial residency at the Augusta University Dental College of Georgia in 2016 before earning an oral and maxillofacial surgery certificate in 2020. She also completed a TMJ fellowship at the Oral and Facial Surgery Institute in St. Louis, MO, in 2021.
Dr. Brown is board-certified by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a member of the American Dental Association, National Dental Association, and the National Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. She is ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certified, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified, and ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certified.
Dr. Brown harbors a deep appreciation for all types of music and often attends live shows. She enjoys cheering on the UNC basketball team and spending quality time with her family and friends. Dr. Brown also enjoys trying new foods and considers herself a foodie.
